House Democrats have just announced the introduction of articles of impeachment against President Trump.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Judiciary Committee Chairperson Jerry Nadler and Intelligence Committee Chairperson Adam Schiff made the announcement on Capitol Hill. They plan to submit two articles of impeachment:
- Abuse of power, for allegedly withholding military aid to Ukraine unless the country investigated the son of Joe Biden and his work for energy firm Burisma.
- Obstruction of Congress, for refusing to comply with subpoenas related to the House’s investigation into the incident.
Trump has steadfastly denied the charges, saying that there was no “quid pro quo” with Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky and that he can and should ask foreign countries to investigate corruption.
