You know those “lucky numbers” that come inside a Chinese fortune cookie? You’re going to want to take a look at those from now on.
A North Carolina man who just won a $344.6 million Powerball jackpot says he played the numbers he got in a fortune cookie. 66-year-old Charles Jackson says he got the fortune a couple of years ago and has played those lucky numbers many times ever since. He says he didn’t even realize he won until several days after the drawing. He didn’t even realize how much he won until he looked it up online.
He chose to receive the lump sum and after taxes are taken out, he’ll keep $158 million. (USA Today)
Hot Takes:
- The fortunes usually contain five lucky numbers. Most lottery games have six numbers, so you’ll still have to choose one number yourself.
- Oddly enough, experts say you have a better chance of winning if you choose your own numbers rather than letting the machine quick pick them.
- I’m totally ordering Chinese tonight.
